“It’s a miracle!”
I’m not a football fan, but the insane last-second win last night from the Washington Commanders against the Chicago Bears just might be a tip to something else. Though I’ve never gotten into the prophetic parallels of sports plays, this one got my attention:-).
The “Hail Mary” pass came in the last 2 seconds of the game with the Commanders down by 3 points. The quarterback (who gave all the glory to God afterwards) was 52 yards from the goal line. Though everyone knew what he would attempt, the chances of succeeding at such a play are roughly 9%. Talk about an upset.
Note that it was the Washington Commanders who won. I’d like to think this is a reference to the man and not the city. The namesake was a true Commander in Chief who fought for the emerging Republic. And just to test my hunch, I went to Psalms 52 to see if there might be any correlation to our seemingly desperate situation as a nation.
(A maskil of David, when Doeg, the Edomite, came and told Saul that David had come to the House of Ahimelech.) “Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day. Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue. But God will break you down forever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying, ‘See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!’” (Psalms 52:1-7)
King Saul may have thought he could usurp the throne, but found out he was answering to a higher power. And though David had to endure some agonizing warfare to be set in place, God’s intentions never waned. Our present-day usurpers think they can get away with their schemes in order to maintain control. But those who oppose God and plot evil, WILL be dealt with.
Whether or not this is a prophetic sign is up to your own discretion (and if it is, there are probably more insights than noted:-). Regardless, it’s a reminder that when God has determined a certain outcome – He will eventually have His way. The odds won’t matter.
What may seem like a desperate situation to us may only be a divine set-up for an unexpected upset. Miracles incoming…
